Green peas & Corn Chatpata.

This is yummy to make easy dish,I tasted this first at my Sis in law,Ms Sudha Parab’s home.She makes it with fried peas,i did my version with boiled peas and corns…..


1 cup grean peas.(Boiled)

1/2 cup sweet Corn(Boiled/Steamed).

Salt and pepper powder to taste.

1 tbsp Olive oil/butter.

1/4 tsp Chat masala.

1 tsp Lemon juice.


Heat olive oil/butter in a pan.

Add corn and green peas.Mix well.

Add salt and pepper.Mix well,cover and steam for a minute or two.

Switch of the gas,add chat masala and lemon juice.

Mix well.

Remove in a serving bowl and serve hot.

Tip:If desired can be garnished with nylon sev and chopped corriander leaves.

Urad Dal Vade


1 cup Urad Dal

2 tbsp Chana Dal.

1/4 cup Jowar Aata.

1/4 cup Wheat Aata

1/2 cup Rice Aata.

1 tsp Badishep powder(fennel powder)

1/4 tsp Methi powder(fenugreek saads powder)

1/2 tsp Jeera & Dhana powder (coarsley grounded)

salt to taste.

1 tbsp Hot Oil.

Oil for frying.

1 Onion cut into 4 pieces.


Wash and soak urad dal and chana dal together for 8 hours.

After 8 hours grind it to a smooth paste.

In this paste add rice aata,wheat aata,jowar aata,badishep,methi,dnana and jeera powder.

Add salt .Mix well.Add boiling hot oil.Knead together to frm a hard dough,add little lukewarm water if required.

Insert cut onion pieces in the dough.

Cover it with wet cloth.

Keep it covered for 2 hours.

Apply some water yo your hand

Now take  a piece of plastic.Apply little water to the plastic,take a small ball of the dough and place it on the plastic

With wet fingers press it slowly  to form a thick puri.

Heat oil in a thick bottomed kadai,fry this wada on medium heat.

Drain on an absorbant paper.

Serve hot.

Kelyachi (Raw Banana) Bhaji


1 cup cubbed Raw Banana.

1/2 cup chopped Onion.

2 Green chillies chopped.

6 Curry leaves.

1 tsp Mustard seeds.

1 tsp Jeera.

1/4 tsp Asafoetida.

1/2 tsp Turmeric powder.

2 tbsp chopped Corriander leaves.

2 tbsp grated Coconut.

1/4 tsp Sugar.

1 tbsp Oil.

Salt to taste.


Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seeds,jeera, asafoetida and curry leaves.

Add green chillies and onion saute well.

Add turmeric powder.

Mix well,add cubed bananas and salt.

Mix well,cover and cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

Add grated coconut,chopped corriander leaves and sugar.Mix well.

Cover and cook for another minute.

Remove in a serving bowl and serve hot with Chappati or roti of your choice.

Methi Dal


1 Cup tur dal (Soaked in two cups of water for 2 hours).

1 Tomato chopped.

1  Onion chopped.

1 cup chopped Methi(Fenugreek) leaves.

2-3 Green chillies.

5 cloves crushed Garlic.

1 tbsp oil.

1 tsp mustard seeds.

1 tsp jeera.

1/2 tsp asafoetida.

1/2 tsp turmeric powder.

Salt to taste.


Pressure cook washed and soaked dal in pressure cooker upto 3-4 whistles.

Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds,jeera,asafoetida,crushed garlic and turmeric powder.

Add green chillies,chopped onions and tomatoes.Saute for 2 minutes.

Add chopped methi leaves,mix well,cover and cook till methi is cooked.

Add cooked dal and salt.

Let it come to boil.

Simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes.

Serve hot with steam rice.

Baby Potaoes in Mayonnaise Sauce


This is a yummy side dish,which can be given in tiffin….


15 boiled and peeled Baby potatoes.

1 tbsp Olive oil/Butter.

2 tbsp Mayonnaise sauce.

1/4 tsp Oregano.

1/4 tsp Chilli flakes.

1 tsp Garlic minced.

Salt & Pepper powder to taste.

1 tbsp Cheese grated


Boil and peel baby potatoes and keep aside.


In a pan heat Olive oil/Butter.

Add minced garlic,chilli flakes and oregano.stir well.

Add boiled and peeled baby potatoes.

Stir fry till potatoes turn crisp and brown.Add salt and pepper powder.


Mix well.Add mayonnaise sauce.


Saute till all the potatoes are well coated

Serve as side dish with soup/sandwiches.

Malvani Vade.

This is a famous and authentic malvani recipe.There are various versions of this recipe.The one that I have posted here is that of my granny,Mrs Usha Paradkar passed down to me by my mom.


For the Flour:

1 kd Rice.

1 kg Jwari(Jowar)

1/2 kg Chana dal.

1/2 kg Urad Dal.

1/2 kg Wheat.

25 gms Methi dana.

25 gms Corriander seeds.

10 gms Badishep (Fennel)

10 gm Cummin seeds (Jeera).

For the vada

2 cups vada flour.

salt to taste.

1 cup lukewarm water.

Oil for frying.


Mix all the flour ingredients and grind it.

Store it in a clean airtight jar and use as required.

While making vada,take 2 portions of the flour,add salt and 1 portion of lukewarm water.

Knead into a hard dough,cover with wet cloth and keep aside for 2 hours.

On a wet cloth take a small lemon sized ball of the dough and pat with fingers dipped in water to form a vada(same like puri).

Deep fry in Oil till done.

Serve hot.Goes well with Malvani chicken & Kala vatana Sambar.

Spanish Omelete


Spanish omelette  is a traditional dish from Spain and one of the signature dishes in the Spanish cuisine. It is an omelette made with eggs and potatoes, optionally including onion and some other vegies….it is thick and fluffy,goes well for breakfast.


4 Eggs.

1 Onion sliced.

1 Potato boiled,deskinned and sliced.

2 tbsp steamed corn kernels.

Few strips of capsicum (I have used yellow bell pepper)

2 tbsp Corriander leaves chopped.

1 tsp Oil.

Salt and Pepper to taste.

1 tsp Oregano.


Above ingredients makes 2 omeletes.Below is the method to make one omelete.

In a pan heat oil,add half onion slices and half potato slices,half quantity of corn kernels and capsicum add salt and pepper.

Cook till they turn light brown and medium crispy.


Beat 2 eggs in a bowl,adding salt and oregano.

Add beaten eggs to cooked onions and potatoes,pull in the sides to make a thick omelete.

add half of the chopped corriander leaves.

Turn around and cook on other side.

Remove on plate and serve hot with bread of your choice.

Kandya chya Paticha Pithla.


1 cup Besan mixed in 2 cups Water.

1 tsp Mustard seeds.

1 tsp Jeera.

1/4 tsp Asafoetida.

3 Green Chillies.

6 cloves of Garlic.

8 Curry leaves.

1/2 tsp Turmeric powder.

1 tbsp Oil.

Salt to taste.

For Tempering:

1 tsp Oil.

1 tsp jeera.

2 Red Chillies.


Mix 2 cups of water with besan in a large bowl to make a smooth, lump free paste.keep aside.

Make a coarse paste of green chillies,curry leaves and garlic without using water either in morter and pestle or in a grinder.keep aside.

Heat Oil in a pan,make a tempering of mustard seeds,jeera and asafoetida.Add green paste and stir fry for 2 minutes.

Add chopped onion (whites),stir fry for a minute.


Add chopped kandya chi pat (green spring onion) to it.

IMG_20200529_195903Cover and cook for 5 minutes.Add turmeric powder and besan dissolved in water and salt,Mix well.

Temper with 1 tsp oil,jeera and 2 red chillies.
