Last week,when I was traveling to Delhi for a small vacation,on board food cart had chocolate popcorn for sale…Rs 250 for 100 gms box of chocolate caramel popcorn….really….mere craziness…My son being a chocoholic wanted it….so tried my hands at it and the result was awesome…
So here goes the recipe…
1 Packet Active pop corn.
4 tbsp Sugar.
1 tbsp Butter.
1 pinch Baking Soda.
1/2 tsp Vanilla Essence.
1/2 cup Melted Chocolate
In a thick bottom pan empty packet of active popcorn, cover and keep on medium flame till all kernels are popped up, and the popping sound stops.Remove from flame and Keep aside.
In another pan heat sugar on low flame, once the sugar melts completely add 1 tbsp water, sugar will turn into brown syrup.
Now add butter and mix well.
Add vanilla essence,mix well.
Add baking soda and mix well,syrup will start thickening up.
Pour this caramel syrup on prepared popcorns and mix vigorously.
Place chocolate in a microwave safe bowl,and heat in microwave on high for 30 secs.
Pour melted chocolate on prepared popcorns. Mix well.
Store in air tight container and serve as required.
